Uploading your ebook to Kindle Direct Publishing
Once you’ve completed your ebook and all of your formatting is done, you’re now ready to upload your ebook to Kindle Direct Publishing. I have never uploaded a Kindle ebook to Amazon using what I call the manual method. I’ve only uploaded my ebooks using the KD Publishing Pro software. With this software, I fill in the required elements for listing my ebook on Amazon’s Kindle section.
The process to upload using the KD Publishing Pro software makes sending your ebook to Amazon a smooth and easy process. Once you’ve completed filling in the required elements, you hit the send button and your ebook is on it’s way.
Let’s take a look at the elements you’ll need to list your ebook on Amazon’s Kindle Publishing Direct.
Step 1. Enter your book details: Includes book title, ebook description, book contributors, the language, publisher, and publication date
Step 2. Verify your Publishing rights: Select if the ebook is a public domain work or if it’s not a public domain work and that you own the rights to the book
Step 3. Target your book to costumers: Add categories and input keywords up to seven
Step 4. Upload your book cover: You’ll browse your hard drive files to find your ebook’s cover image. Once selected you’ll upload to KDP. The required elements for the image cover is a JPEG or TIFF file. The file size should be a minimum of 1000 pixels on the longest side with an ideal height/width ratio of 1.6. For better quality, it’s recommended that images be 2500 pixels on it’s longest side.
Step 5. Upload your book file: You will enable or disable digital rights management to your ebook. You’ll browse your hard drive for your ebook and then upload. Save and continue.
Once the above steps are completed, you’ll move on to extending rights to Kindle Publishing Direct and set your ebook’s price. This stage of ebook submission includes selecting the category you’ll post your ebook in. You’ll set the pricing along with the percentage of profits you’ll get from ebook sales. Here is where you can find the instructions for uploading using the manual method.
With the KD Publishing Pro software, you don’t have to worry about any of the formatting issues that’s required to send your ebook to Kindle. All required formatting has to be done correctly before submitting your ebook to KDP. If there’s a problem in your ebook’s formatting, your ebook will be rejected by Kindle Publishing Direct.
What to look for when uploading your ebook.
If you don’t have an Amazon account, you’ll need to create one at the Kindle Direct Publishing website. Once inside your account you will following the steps as outlined above to submit your book for publication.
Go through each step carefully. Take your time and select the correct information. But not to worry. If you make a mistake you can always correct it, even after your book is in publication. Be sure to write a description that gives a heads up about your ebook and yourself. If there’s any information that you don’t understand, simply mouse over the underlined text for an explanation. The process is a bit time consuming, but after the first item, it’s a piece of cake.
Give KD Publishing Pro a try
While I don’t go over all the features of the software here, you owe it to yourself to check it out. If you don’t like it, you can get your money back thanks to the money back guarantee.
You can’t really compare the two ways of formatting and submitting unless you try both ways. Why not create your first ebook using a word processor based program, then format your book and submit it manually to Kindle Direct Publishing, and then use the KD Publishing Pro software with your second ebook and decide which way is better.
I’ve started a review here if you’d like to take a look. In my opinion, it’s much easier to use the software to create all your ebooks and submit them to KDP. This comes in real handy if you’re going to be creating a lot of ebooks. KD Publishing Pro saves you time and effort in formatting your ebooks, because the software program automatically does it for you. I’ve submitted two ebooks using it and have never had either of them rejected. This software is really a no brainer!
