Here money money…..
So often when we find something that allows us to earn money and it’s something that’s easy and attainable, we jump in with both feet and don’t really care how deep the water is. One of the biggest lessons I think should be learned in trying to make money online or off is not to follow the money. What do I mean by this?
Recently, I learned from someone that I respect and trust, but have never met that you can’t follow the money. What’s funny is that I’ve been copying strategies that would enable me to make money online. This strategy is called an AdSense site. If you’re not familiar with what that is, it’s an information site regarding a specific topic such as preventing tooth decay. The website has AdSense ads placed on it in efforts to receive clicks and earn commissions from Google.
Ethics is a must!
The person that I am talking about is Tiffany Dow. I have been watching Tiffany for a few months now. In reading her emails, reviewing her website, watching her videos, and purchasing some of her information products, I’ve come to learn about Tiffany. She’s an excellent writer and someone that I would love to sit down and share a cup of coffee with and talk Internet marketing. Just from viewing her online, to me, she exudes her true self. Now, I’ve never met her, but I believe you can tell a lot about her person when you watch them.
I’ve made videos and exposed myself. Actually, when you’re in front of the camera and others aren’t there to see you, you actually expose parts of yourself that you might not show otherwise. Being in front of the camera in the comfort of your home frees your spirit! I too have made every effort to be sincere and honest in my videos. Besides, I’m no actor so who else could I portray?
Being attractive is the key
This is an example of attraction marketing. It’s not necessarily something that Tiff is trying to do; it’s just a part of what she does. In my attraction to her, I trust her, buy from her, and learn from her. With me gaining so much from someone that I’ve never met, I will continue to watch her, buy from her, and learn from her as long as she exudes the characteristics that I like, and what she shows me works for me. It’s just like meeting someone that you become friends with. Afterwards, you may find that you don’t really like the person. Would you continue to hang out with them or resolve your relationship?
This attraction is what people who’re trying to make money online should focus on, but don’t. What Tiff learned was a hard lesson, but it taught her that she can’t just follow the money. For various reasons, Google didn’t approve of the content of her site and removed their ads from it. Tiffany stated that it was a wake up call for her. It made her remember that one of her goals was not only to make money, but help others do the same.
I too am guilty of following the money. There are so many things I’ve tried online (all ethical of course), but just not the best thing. Did they make me money? Ha, not really! When I think about it, I don’t even have AdSense sites anymore. The bottom line is if you’re seriously going to work towards earning money online, you must do it by helping others and providing quality information. Our first goal should not be to just earn money online. We should ask ourselves, how can I earn money and help someone at the same time? Or, how fulfilling is what I’m doing online and do I want to work at doing it? AdSense sites are fairly easy to maintain, but they still require time and quality content. But spending a great deal of time on something that seems like work and isn’t enjoyable just to earn money is about the same as selling shoes door-to-door – it sucks!!
Let your first rule of thumb be to not follow the money
Instead, follow your heart at doing something that makes you feel good, proud even. Do something that helps you and in turn helps someone else. A lot of people receive nice paychecks from Google from AdSense revenue and they do it simply by blogging about something they enjoy and share with others. Do work at making money online, but work at doing what’s right and what works.
