Do Affiliate marketers need a special theme for their website?

As a new affiliate marketer, I was on a quest for a WordPress website theme that was different.  I wanted one that stood out from the rest and one that represented my niche topic. I found that all of the free themes were just cookie cutter themes that thousands of other people had downloaded.  I can honestly say, I’ve never come across a website that had the same theme.  It may have had the same layout and design, but the header image and color scheme was different.   As a new affiliate marketer you might be wondering, do affiliate marketers need a special theme for their website?

You’re probably thinking no, but I beg to differ.  As an affiliate marketer, you want a theme that supports your niche.   For example, let’s say your niche topic is beading.  Your banners will probably contain information and offers about beading products, tools, and kits. You’ll blog about beading designs and techniques.  Now let’s say someone is interested in learning about beading.  They do an internet search and find your website.  They click on the link to your site and when they get there, they see ads for various beading products.  Then they see that your website theme has puppies in the header.  They’re cute little puppies who have strands of beads wrapped around them.  Even though this theme is cute, it doesn’t represent the niche topic.  I would think it’s a website about puppies.  I think affiliate marketers need a special theme for their website.

The theme you choose doesn’t have to be expensive nor does it have to be created by a web designer.  It simply needs to support your niche topic. If you’re blogging about cars, there should be a car somewhere in your theme’s design and perhaps in the header.  If you’re blogging about pool care, your website theme should have a pool somewhere in the design. Imagery helps to support your niche topic.  You could have a car in your websites title or log.  For $5 you can have a logo created for you on Fiverr.  The rest of the theme can be plain.  Instead of getting a cookie cutter theme that doesn’t support your niche topic, get a theme that stands out and speaks to your readers before they’ve even read one word of your blog.

When a visitor lands on your page for the first time, it’s then that they’ll decide if they want to stick around or return to the search engine in hopes of finding a better looking website.  Remember, you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression.  Make your website stand out with a special website theme that supports your niche.
