Tips to help you avoid Internet Marketing Overload

Lately I find that I need to focus on one area of Internet Marketing. One of the things that I really love about this business is that there are so many different things you can do, but at times, variety plays against you.  I’ve been working on Squidoo since September quite steadily, but I’ve grown tired of it. I’ve also been working behind the scenes on a couple of service sites I want to launch next year, and I’ve been blogging here. So many hats, but only one head.

OMG, I left out my affiliate niche sites. I haven’t done much at all to those. I just don’t have the time. Seriously, when you’re trying to learn how to market online effectively and replace that income with your present 9-5 income, it takes time. It also takes a lot of effort, which brings me to a halt. I call it Internet marketing overload. I’ve taken on so many projects that I just don’t have enough effort, time or information to go around.

I came across a post by Minna Bryant where she talks about being accountable.  It’s like she made that blog post just for me. It made me realize that although I might enjoy doing various things online in the world of internet marketing, I seriously need to be accountable and do what needs to be done.

I’ve enjoyed the affiliate sales I’ve made in the past couple of months, but I want MORE! I want serious income. My goal is to have my online income replace what I make on my 9-5. The only way I’m going to do that is by putting aside small projects and focusing on the major hitters, which are my service sites. Once those are established, and that could take months if not years, then I can be more diverse and earn affiliate income from other sources.

If you’re like me and suffering from Internet marketing overload here are some things you can do to free yourself and gain focus.

  •  Jot down all your Internet Marketing projects.
  • Make a list of the pros and cons of all your online projects and income sources.
  • On a separate sheet of paper, list the major income sources that will provide the most steady stream of income and longevity.
  • Out of those, circle the one(s) that you enjoy the most. If you have more than one, just number them with one being your top pick.
  • Now, starting with number one, list ways that you can improve your business. Jot down things you’re not doing, but should.
  • Finally, pick just ONE from your list of top picks. This is the service or niche in internet marketing that you’ll focus all of your attention on.

This might be hard for those who are really making money diversely. For me, it’s not working. I’m spending too much time going from one thing to another and not getting anywhere. For me, my focus has to be on one thing and one thing only. This will help me to stay on task and put the most time and effort into one thing.

This will help me to develop, strengthen, and increase my knowledge of my business and the skills I need to grow it and promote it effectively. It’ll also keep me from being overloaded.

So tell me, are you feeling overwhelmed with all of the things you’re doing online to make money?  Think you could be suffering from Internet Marketing Overload?   If so what are you going to do to change it?
